The Journey to Jubilee

The Journey to Jubilee

What started as a quiet nudge from God over a decade ago has now become our everyday reality. As of this summer, we’ve officially landed in Daphne, Alabama, and the vision God planted in our hearts back in 2013 is no longer a distant dream—it’s here. It’s now.

Jubilee City Church is being planted. And we are all in.

A Calling That Wouldn’t Let Go

For years, this vision lived in whispers. It showed up in prayer, in quiet moments over coffee, and in late-night conversations with Sarah. God was stirring something bigger—but the timing wasn’t ours to decide.

Then, in October 2024, while in a moment of prayer at UPPERROOM in Dallas, I heard the Lord speak four words that shook me:

“It’s time to start.”

I can still feel the weight of those words. They didn’t just affirm the calling—they set everything in motion. Suddenly, everything we’d walked through—every transition, sacrifice, and unknown—started to make sense.

We couldn’t ignore it anymore. We had to step out.

Two Years to the Day

It’s wild to say this, but two years to the day before our move, God gave me a dream. In that dream, He showed me we’d be planting a church—and that we’d be moving two years later.

That date? June 3rd, 2023.

Our moving date? June 3rd, 2025.

I don’t know how else to explain it except to say: God’s timing is perfect. Not early, not late. Just right on time.

Our Family Said Yes

This journey hasn’t just been mine. It’s been our whole family’s “yes.”

Sarah left her role at a Christian school after 15 years, sensing God was calling her to be more fully present with our kids—and more involved in ministry. We sold the home we loved and moved into a smaller place “just for a season.” That villa became holy ground. It’s where we heard God most clearly.

I stepped out of youth ministry. Our kids watched us wrestle through the hard choices and trust God anyway. They’ve seen tears, prayer, and the beauty of everyday obedience up close. They’re living this calling with us—and they’re learning that sometimes, the hardest paths lead to the most beautiful promises.

We’re Not Doing This Alone

One of the greatest gifts in this journey? Our best friends, Corey and Desiree Penrod, felt the same calling. When they told us they wanted to join us in planting Jubilee City Church, I nearly cried. There’s something powerful about walking into the unknown with people who believe in the same vision as you.

Together, we’re praying, planning, and dreaming of what God wants to do through this church.

Why Jubilee City Church?

This church isn’t just a Sunday event. It’s a movement of faith, freedom, and family.

We believe God is building a community where people:

  • Encounter the living God

  • Experience true freedom in Christ

  • Find authentic family connection

  • Discover their God-given purpose

That’s the heartbeat of Jubilee City Church—and it’s already taking root.

What Comes Next?

We’re in the thick of it now—building community, meeting people, establishing rhythms, and laying the groundwork for all God wants to do. It’s humbling. It’s exciting. And it’s stretching our faith in the best ways.

How You Can Be Part of It

We need you with us.

Here are two ways you can partner with us right now:

1. Pray.
Pray for our family, for the Penrods, and for the people of Daphne and Lower Alabama. Pray for wisdom, provision, and open doors as we continue laying the foundation for Jubilee City.

2. Give.
Starting something from the ground up takes resources. If God leads you to give, you can support this mission at: GiveToJubilee.com

Every dollar helps us create a space where people encounter Jesus, find freedom, and step into their purpose.

We’re so grateful for everyone who’s walked with us, prayed for us, and believed in this vision. What God is doing here is already bigger than us—and we believe it’s just the beginning.

We’re here. Jubilee City Church is beginning.
